Subject: Russian composers
… I’ve recently started listening to more classical music, and it’s amazing how many famous composers were Russian! Do you often listen to classical music? Is there a Russian composer whose music you really enjoy? Is classical music popular with Russian teenagers? Why or why not?
… By the way, I watched a very interesting film about a famous composer yesterday…

Hi Amelia,
Thanks for your message. I was very glad to hear from you.
As for your questions, I don’t listen to classical music very often, but I enjoy it from time to time, especially when I want to relax or concentrate. One of my favourite Russian composers is Tchaikovsky. His ballets like “Swan Lake” and “The Nutcracker” are full of beautiful melodies. I don’t think classical music is very popular with most Russian teenagers. Many of them prefer pop, rap or electronic music, although some still enjoy classical music or learn to play it at music school.
I’d like to know more about the film you watched. What composer is it about? What is the name of the film? Who played the composer in the film?
That’s all for now. Please, write to me soon.
Yours,
Tina
