Task 38
Imagine that you are doing a project on Zetland teenagers' favourite British book characters. You have found some data on the subject — the results of a survey conducted among Zetland teenagers who enjoy British literature (see the table below).
Choose one option
| Options | Number of respondents (%) |
|---|---|
| Harry Potter (from the «Harry Potter» series by J.K. Rowling) | 40 |
| Sherlock Holmes (from Arthur Conan Doyle’s detective series) | 23 |
| Alice (from «Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland» by Lewis Carroll) | 21 |
| Bilbo Baggins (from J.R.R. Tolkien’s «The Hobbit») | 10 |
| Winnie-the-Pooh (from A.A. Milne’s series) | 6 |
Write 200–250 words.
Use the following plan:
— make an opening statement on the subject of the project;
— select and report 2–3 facts;
— make 1–2 comparisons where relevant and give your comments;
— outline a problem related to teenagers' engagement with literature and suggest a way of solving it;
— conclude by giving and explaining your opinion on what makes a book character memorable and appealing.
