Speaking part: variant 41 - Langart

Task 1

Imagine that you are preparing a project with your friend. You have found some interesting material for the presentation and you want to read this text to your friend. You have 1.5 minutes to read the text silently, then be ready to read it out aloud. You will not have more than 1.5 minutes to read it.

There are many planetary systems like ours in the universe, with planets orbiting a host star. Our planetary system is called “the solar system” because we use the word “solar” to describe things related to our star. Our solar system is made up of a star, eight planets, and countless smaller bodies such as dwarf planets, asteroids, and comets. The planets of our solar system – and even some asteroids – hold more than 200 moons in their orbits. The four giant planets – and at least one asteroid – have rings. None are as spectacular as Saturn’s gorgeous rings.

More than 300 robotic spacecraft have explored destinations beyond Earth’s orbit, including 24 American astronauts who made the trip from the Earth to the Moon. Our solar system is the only one known to support life. So far, we only know of life on Earth, but we’re looking for more everywhere we can.
