Speaking part: variant 91 - Langart

Task 1

Imagine that you are preparing a project with your friend. You have found some interesting material for the presentation and you want to read this text to your friend. You have 1.5 minutes to read the text silently, then be ready to read it out aloud. You will not have more than 1.5 minutes to read it.

Approximately 70% of the world’s fresh water is frozen in the snow and glaciers of Antarctica. Another 30% is located deep underground throughout the Earth. Surprisingly, all the rivers and lakes of the world together contain less than a quarter of 1% of the total amount of available fresh water!

With an ever-growing world population, our water supplies are dangerously low. The future looks very uncertain. Even today in many developing countries, only a very small percentage of people have daily access to clean drinking water.

Careless overuse is one of the primary reasons why the world’s water supply is decreasing. Washing cars, watering expensive green lawns, throwing away used water that could be recycled for another use are all examples of the way we take our precious water for granted.
